The old market building has identified as a trade commercial center constructed at the middle of the town after selecting Badulla as the administrative town of Uva province by British in 19 A.D. This is famous among the citizens as Dutch Market because this building has been constructed using the Dutch architectural techniques. There is an octagonal clerestory and for rectangular long building starting from there directing to the four directions. This has declared as a reserved archaeological commemorative which has been conserved by the Department of Archeology in accordance with the Archaeological act.
